The Case of the dark nickel deposit

The Challenge:

An Iowa based zinc die casting & finishing company supplying finished parts for heavy truck market had problems with darkness in the final finish plate & low plating thickness.

The Solution:

Asterion jumped into action to determine the source of the darkness and address this bright coverage issue. While conducting the needed testing it was found that improving the low current density thickness would aid in correcting this problem & result in less copper & zinc in the nickel solution. Benchbrite NI-828 was introduced and eliminated the dark, low current density deposit & also increased the deposit thickness in the LCD, leading to better overall deposit distribution reducing excessive plating thickness – saving money, reducing scrap!
